Swimming with dolphins and eating crayfish for dinner.....
Submitted by mettelemcke on Sat, 01/23/2010 - 03:56.....that is the sweet life we have been living here on the south island of New Zealand. The stunning beauty of this place has captured us both and we have now spent two weeks enjoying these marvelous surroundings. We started off with a two day kayaking trip in the Abale Tasman National Park. It's one os New Zealands most visited national parks and it's not hard to see why when you have been there. The senic beaches, isolated coves and rock formations all makes it a perfect spot for sea kayaking though a lot of people also hike the costal track to see these places.
New Year and a new country - New Zealand
Submitted by mettelemcke on Sun, 01/10/2010 - 06:44New Zealand! Home to the friendly kiwies and LOTR's beautiful Middelearth - how much better does it get? We got here on the 2nd of January after a great last week in Oz. After Christmas in Byron Bay we made it through Hunter Valley (Wine tasting) and the Blue Mountains before arriving in Sydney for New Year. Sydney was already packed with people days before New Year and our plan of spending New Year's Eve in the Botanical Gardens having a pick nick and drinking champagne soon changed when we learned that people sit in the Botanical Gardens from 9 am and wait 15 hours to see the fireworks!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Submitted by mettelemcke on Thu, 12/24/2009 - 04:13Hi all,
Have made it to Byron Bay after a great sailing trip to the Withsundays islands and a three day trip to Fraser Island not to mention a nice fishingtrip in Hervey Bay and a fascinating night watching loggerhed turtles lay their eggs at Mon Repos.
Outback Oz and tropical Queensland....
Submitted by mettelemcke on Fri, 12/04/2009 - 08:59Sitting here in the small town of Ayr south of Townsville after having left my beloved Cairns and having picked up our home for the next three-four weeks: "Kennet the campervan" as Nicolas and Casper have already named him :) As always I'm short of time on these internet cafes so will have to try and write this quickly as my time is running out...... Where to begin? We have experienced so much the last couple of weeks it's hard to sum it all up.....
The wonderful west coast
Submitted by mettelemcke on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 03:46Finally back in civilization and in Melbs after 3 great weeks at the west coast. Broom was a beautiful little town and I enjoyed just relaxing and laying on the beach doing absolutely nothing after 3 months of hard work at uni. I quickly met 2 German girls, an American girl and a Japanese girl that I hung out with while I was in Broom.
Freedom, beach and palmtrees - holiday!!!
Submitted by mettelemcke on Sat, 10/17/2009 - 11:45Sorry for not keeping you guys updated but my time at Deakin University has been so rushed because they have trimesters so I haven't done much beside studying for the last couple of months. Have had time though to go to Philip Island to see the famous little penguins and to visit Healesville zoo where we got up close and personal with the Australian wildlife. Have also visited Tasmania which was a great little get-away (3 1/2 days) from the daily grind.
Back to life!
Submitted by mettelemcke on Wed, 09/02/2009 - 11:22Finally done with my mid term exam assignments! That was tough but I did survive :) The last week I have spent LIVING in Melbourne and actually doing things outside the apartment! When I handed in my last mid term assignment on Monday the 24th my aussie mate Kate from one of my units took me to Brighton Beach where we walked along the beach and she showed me the brightly coloured bathing boxes that all the rich people own to keep their beach and bathing stuff.
Exam, exam, exam....

Can’t believe we have almost been here one month! It’s still cold down here but we do get some sunny days now and then and spring is just around the corner now - you can almost feel it in the air :)
Marvelous Melbourne
Submitted by mettelemcke on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 12:45Finally arrived in this great place after 48 hours of travelling. Had cheap tickets from Heathrow in London so had to get to London ourselves. Got a flight from Billund til Gatwick and then took a bus from Gatwick to Heathrow. Found a corner in terminal 4 and curled up for the night. Got on the plane next morning heading for Abu Dhabi where we were in transfer for a couple of hours before embarking on the last stretch of the journey to Melbourne.
